A Christian View Of The 2020 American Election

Encouragement

I just wanted to take a minute to post a word of encouragement. With everything that is going on in the world right now, especially the election media coverage, I just wanted to remind not only you guys, but myself, that God is in control of all of this.

Yea, I am sure many of the Christian Trump supporters are asking themselves ‘if God is in control, then why did Biden end up winning’? Well, that is one way of looking at it. On the other hand, we do not know what Gods perfect will is for this very moment of time. His will right now may be to bring about the fulfilment of prophecy. As many of us are aware, biblical prophecy isn’t for the faint-hearted, much of what must come to pass will be terrible.

The Bible warns us of these things and the signs that will accompany them. Therefore, it only makes sense that at some point we are going to see Gods will line up with the events foretold of in the Bible. Below are some verses that we can look towards, relating to the signs of the times that must come to pass.

Isaiah 55:8-9 ESV

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

2 Timothy 3:1-5 ESV

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.

Luke 21:11 ESV

There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.

Matthew 24:6 ESV

And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet.

Matthew 24:7 ESV

For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.

Matthew 24:11 ESV

And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray.

Matthew 24:12 ESV

And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold.

2 Peter 3:3-4 ESV

Knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.”

2 Timothy 3:1-4 ESV

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.

What The Bible Says

It is certainly easy to get wrapped up in the media coverage and the social media commentary following this election. It’s important that we remember what it says in the Bible. Knowing in confidence that we were warned of these things in scripture. The picture that is being illustrated in these bible verses looks much like the present state of our Nation.

Rather than allowing fear and anger, discouragement, or division to take over, remember these verses. There is plenty of fear and discord in the country as we speak, but as Christians we are called to step out from the masses and into the light to share Jesus, The Bible,  and The Good News. Remember, as Christians we belong to the Kingdom of Heaven where our reigning King is Jesus!

The “little g” god of this world

The Bible tells us that Satan is for a time the (g)od of this world. It seems only logical that we as Christians would feel a shift in the Nation and how it’s run, as we head closer to the Return Of The Son Of Man. We will experience an overwhelming majority of people in complete rebellion to God. The 2020 Election was just a small microscopic sample of what it will be like to live in a world in complete opposition to Christ.

Christians Angry With God Because Of The 2020 Election

Some Christians ultimately placed their faith in a man, Donald Trump, rather than putting their faith in God. This has driven some Christian’s to shake their fists at God in anger. There are also a handful of Christians who believe the election is not over, and Trump will end up as the winner of the 2020 Election.

My concern is for those believers who are holding out for what they believe is Gods will to put Trump in the White House for another term. What if Trump doesn’t end up elected for another term? How are you so sure that it is God’s will to keep Trump in office?

Many “prophets” have been coming forward to speak prophecy about the 2020 Elections. Out of these people, maybe a handful will have truly heard from God. Do not listen to everything you hear, just because someone spoke it. Test the spirits, discern what is being said and check it with scripture, and then take it to God in prayer.

Remaining Faithful

I do not know what will happen either way. I have focused my prayer life as of lately on praying for our Nation and for believers and unbelievers alike, rather than asking God in prayer to give me ‘the goods’ on the election. I have no inclination either way. Right now, it looks as though Biden is unofficially President, meanwhile Trump is filing legal documents and doing what he can to expose what he believes went on during the election voting.

Honestly, I can see it playing out either way, but, with the way things are in the world today, it just seems likely that these are the beginning steps towards the ‘new world order agenda’. We seem to be nearing a time of great conflict, loss of freedom and rights, and Christian persecution. When you look at the situation through a biblical lense, it only makes sense that these things would start to abound before our eyes.

No matter what happens, our faith needs to be in Christ and we need to be rooted in His word because it prepares us for these things if we take it seriously. Don’t be like the Israelites during their exodus out of Egypt, forgetting who their God was and what He could do.

We serve a mighty God, so no matter what we see with our eyes or hear with our ears, we need to know in our spirit that He is righteous and faithful. Don’t allow the present state of our Nation to discourage you from a relationship with God.  God has not abandoned us he wants to send His Son out to retrieve His Bride. What is taking place right now in our world is evidence that God is fulfilling biblical prophecy. Be encouraged by this revelation and draw near to God, he will sustain you.

Revelation 3:3 ESV

Remember, then, what you received and heard. Keep it and repent. If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you.

1 John 2:16-17 ESV

For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
